Abstract

Ch’ien Chungshu’s novel Wei Cheng is well-known for its witty satire and rhetoric language. This paper focuses on the sadness metaphor analysis by means of conceptual metaphor theory and Conceptual Metonymy Theory, trying to prove cognitive universality and cultural diversity of the metaphors in Chinese novel.
