Abstract
In view of the problems commonly existing in private colleges and universities, such as imperfect management mechanism, imperfect personnel training system, poor scientific research atmosphere and insufficient school-enterprise cooperation, this paper studies the characteristics of private colleges and universities serving local economic development by using literature method, case study method and investigation method according to human capital theory and educational economics theory. This paper analyzes the main functions and ability components of private colleges and universities in serving local economic development, as well as the development experience of foreign private colleges and universities, and puts forward the optimization strategies of private colleges and universities to strengthen their school-running philosophy, improve school-running quality, and enhance scientific research level, so as to provide some reference for promoting the development of private colleges and universities in serving local economy.
